Root of Narcissism Part 2

2 Corinthians 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
In part one, we discussed how the world tries to label sin. God’s Word clearly lays out that sin is an issue that must be dealt with in the heart.
The world defines narcissistic behaviors as a mental disorder. When a person has a sense of high importance of themselves, they are self-consumed and inconsiderate of the needs of others. Society typically defines them as a narcissist. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;”
When we take a step back and look at the characteristics of narcissism, we clearly see that the root issue is that of pride. Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
The pride that led to the fall of Lucifer is prevalent in the world today. We, as the children of light, must daily walk in the light of the gospel and shine light to a dark world. Sinful, wicked actions do not need explanations to justify actions but rather need to be dealt with at the cross of Calvary.
The Lord Jesus has given us victory over sin through His death, burial, and resurrection. May we humbly yield our lives to Him and submit to live for Him and not ourselves. John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Reflection—Put self in the proper place; that is, always keep it out of the first place.
