The Joy of Living By Faith

By Steve Clark

September 10, 2026

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

There is a happiness that comes from living by faith. Faith does not mean we understand everything God is doing. It means we trust the One Who does.

If we only rejoice when everything makes sense, our joy will constantly rise and fall with our circumstances. But when we live by faith, our joy is rooted in God rather than in what we can see.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith allows us to move forward even when we cannot see what is ahead. We may not know how God will provide, when He will answer, or where He is leading, but we can know that He is faithful.

Think about Abraham. God told him to leave his country and go to a place that He would show him. Abraham didn’t have all the details, but he obeyed. His faith allowed him to experience the joy of following God one step at a time.

Faith also brings peace when life becomes uncertain. Instead of constantly asking, “What if something goes wrong?” we can say, “God is still in control.”

Peter learned this lesson when he stepped out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Christ, he walked where he could not naturally walk. When he looked at the wind and waves, fear replaced faith.

The joy of faith is not found in knowing what tomorrow holds. It is found in knowing Who holds tomorrow.

So today, trust God with what you cannot see. Take the next step He has placed before you. You don’t have to understand the whole journey. You simply have to trust the One leading you.

Reflection—Faith turns uncertainty into opportunity, fear into peace, and the journey itself into a reason to rejoice.
