Light Shines Brightest in the Dark

For Women By Women

By Missy Clark

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

We can point our fingers at this problem and that problem. We can lay blame to this group or that group. But if we trace every issue back to its root, we’ll see that it is the same problem that it has always been.

The problem is SIN. We are seeing the end results of lives lived in sin. We are seeing what it looks like when generation after generations of people have walked away from the truth of God’s Word.

Each generation is farther from God than the previous one. Many have what the Bible calls, “a seared conscience.” They are so far from God’s truth that they will scream, and fight, and even kill to silence it.

This is what sin does. Sin’s “end game” is destruction.

The ONLY hope they or we have is found in Jesus Christ. We may be laughed at, scorned, and ridiculed for saying so, but the truth of God’s Word still stands. God’s truth never changes. He decides what is right and wrong. He makes no mistakes. And He loves us enough that He made a way for even the vilest person to find peace and hope in life.

Will we show them what God’s Word really says about salvation, and then what living right looks like? There’s no doubt that it’s getting harder to reach people in this generation. Many will not listen. But that doesn’t mean we stop trying. There are still some out there who will listen.

Reflection—Christians, don’t give up! Let’s continue to carry the light of the Gospel to a dark world!
