What Is Your Life Worth?

By Frank Williams

September 7, 2026

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Paul’s life was dramatically redirected when he met the Lord Jesus. He suddenly realized that he had been wrong about Him, and that the true purpose of life was to glorify and serve Him. Nothing else was of any worth or value. Life without Christ is total vanity.

Here’s how Paul described this transformation of outlook in Philippians. Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

We could definitely say that Paul was “sold out” for Jesus! He realized that life without the Lord was empty and without purpose.

There is such fulfilling joy in serving the Lord Jesus! He is so good and leaves no small task done in His Name unblessed. Mark 9:41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Are there activities in your life that leave you feeling empty? Why are you doing what you do? Are you fulfilling your calling and purpose? Are you using your heart, mind, and strength for the work that God has assigned for you?

Paul found his greatest joy was “to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Truly, life isn’t worth much unless we’re doing what God has called us to do.

Reflection—How would you finish this sentence – “Life is worth nothing unless …” ?
