New American sweetheart Gabby Douglas left her Virginia Beach, Va., home at age 14 to stay with a West Des Moines, Iowa, host family, allowing the gymnast to train under noted coach Liang Chow. Before she left for London, she asked the Valley Church to pray that she would win gold. Douglas said God has protected her through her gymnastics struggles.
