What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice

“Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth. … stir up thy strength, and come and save us” (Ps.80:1-2). This Psalm depicts the heart of a righteous remnant when their nation is cut down, burned with fire, and destroyed at the rebuke of God‘s countenance (vr.16). They are fed with the bread of tears and given tears to drink in great measure (vr.5). They ask, “O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people” (vr.4), and three times they pleaded “Turn us again, O God,… O God of host,… O LORD God of host” (vrs.3,7,19).

Our own nation is standing in peril of such a judgment from an angry God. The Godless head of communism is on our ballot this fall; drug addiction is epidemic; the abominable sin of sodomy is promoted by a queer DEI-god and his WOKEism Imp; and we continue to murder babies that are inconvenient. Apostate churches are complicit, not preaching the “Thus saith the Lord” of the Holy Bible, nor heeding his commandments. This great nation is presently deserving of God‘s judgment and “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not” (Lam.3:22). The Bible says “God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world to him might be saved. … Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. Turn us again, O LORD God of host, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.” (Jhn.3:17,Ps.80:18-19). God saves souls, he saved mine; “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom.10:13, cf 10:9-10).
