Leviticus 7 – Laws of Offerings

Leviticus 8 – Consecration of the Priests

  • Aaron and his sons are anointed, and sacrifices are offered.

Leviticus 9 – First Priestly Offerings

  • On the eighth day, Aaron and his sons begin their priestly ministry.

  • Aaron offers sacrifices for himself and for the people.

  • God’s glory appears to all Israel, and fire from the Lord consumes the burnt offering on the altar, leading the people to shout and fall on their faces.


Leviticus 10 – Nadab and Abihu

  • Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu offer strange (unauthorized) fire before the Lord.

  • Fire from the Lord consumes them as judgment.

  • Moses instructs Aaron and his surviving sons not to mourn publicly but to continue their duties.

  • Laws are given concerning the priests’ conduct, including abstaining from wine during service.

  • Aaron explains his decision not to eat the sin offering, and Moses accepts it.
