Not By Right

Jeremiah 17:11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and NOT BY RIGHT, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
This week, we have the much-anticipated midterm elections. Billions of dollars have been spent across the country to try to secure political positions. Candidates are promising political solutions to various issues.
The Lord Jesus offers the solution to all of the world’s problems because of His victorious defeat of sin, death, and hell. The problem is sin, and the solution is Jesus. When we follow the Lord Jesus and His righteous ways, we are filled with contentment.
The world system encourages gaining wealth at all expenses, even if not by right. This concept leads to a foolish life that ends empty. An example is the rich farmer in Luke 12.
Luke 12:20-21 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure
for himself, and is not rich toward God.
As Christians, we are to seek and promote righteousness. We are to pray for those that are in authority so that we can have the liberty to spread the light of the gospel to a dark world. The battles we face are spiritual, not political; therefore, the solution is a spiritual solution, not one of a political party.
Reflection—Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
