I have said this phrase 100’s of times “if you keep doing the same things you’ve always done you’re going to keep getting the same results you’ve always gotten.” Sunday is coming not a week or a month away but in two short days and the question is where will you be? In Church you might say and my answer to that question is and what will you be there for? Were you there last week? Were you content to just be there? Were you content to sit and look straight ahead and leave when the service was over? Content with the nice service! I hope if that were the case you’ll come this week looking for Jesus. Have you prepared your heart for worship? Have you prayed before you arrive so that you will be ready to pray when you arrive?  Did you sleep well so that you’ll be able to stay alert after you arrive? Did you read your Bible before you came so your heart will be soft when you worship? Come hungry, come willing and come expecting God to speak to you personally. When you leave Church will you have something to thank God for? He speaks to open and willing hearts. I read that George Carver Washington went out each morning to pray and the results of his prayers were over 300 uses for the peanut. Carver never patented most of the many discoveries saying “God gave them to me, how can I sell them to someone else?”
Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
What are you asking God for? After you ask are you seeking for what you asked for? Are you knocking, looking and expecting God to give you what you asked for? I remember a while back asking God for a certain matter; I asked more than once. I kept knocking at heavens doors for God to please supply in this matter; nothing happened the prayer was not answered, nothing. Then one day I just said in my prayer “God I have asked and asked I have knocked and knocked why have you not answered; just say yes or no but please give me an answer.” There was no sound from heaven, no angels singing but on that morning God answered my prayer. I was reading Matthew chapter seven when my eyes read verse seven. Ask, seek and knock and then the Lord spoke to me. You have asked and yes, you have knocked but you have failed to seek. That’s it I was waiting for something to drop out of the sky into my lap. I like most forgot to seek after what I was asking for. If you want to find gold one must go and pan or seek for it. I am afraid that many die without ever really knowing what God wants them to do. Oh yes, they asked God to show them and sure they knocked but have they really gone seeking for it.
Proverbs 21:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Proverbs 2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Proverbs 2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
Proverbs 2:4 Ifthou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
When you walk into the doors of your Church this Sunday don’t you want more than being content? If that’s all you want that’s all you’ll get. But if you come expecting to hear, see and experience something from God that’s what you’ll get. You can have as much as you want or as little as you’re satisfied with.
