Msg #2606b Precious Tabernacle Colors
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
Revisit the God-given childhood question, “Why is the sky blue?” The sky is not blue because of the Tyndall Effect discovered by John Tyndall in 1859, nor because of the Rayleigh Effect defined by Lord Rayleigh a few years later: No, the sky is blue because there is a God in heaven who designed and created this world with such perfect grandeur that when he said, “Let there be light,” there came into this world a spectrum of energy where a tiny central band of its RoyGBiv visible wavelengths reacted with his invisible layers of atmosphere to scatter, while the rest of the spectrum passed right on through; and when he made man in his image and his likeness, he had an eye with a cone more sensitive to that primary color than to all adjoining frequencies. Consequently, the effervescent glow that carpets the sky and produces a curtain drawn across the heavens beyond, is a noteworthy representation of the absolute GLORY of God.
And the astounding purple found in his created world is a rarest combination of his visible violet disappearing into ultra, and his visible red disappearing into infra, interacting in the eye of the beholder in such a way that the effervescent glow of purple found in “mountains majesty” is representative of the absolute MAGESTY of the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
And the mysterious color of blood, the scarlet of deep red light disappearing into the invisible infrared spectrum, the very border between the visible and the invisible, between light and darkness … between life and death, between good and evil, this scarlet represents the closest man can come in peering into life and death issues before eternity. For the Tabernacle, “This is the offering which ye shall take of them, … Blue, and Purple, and Scarlet.”
