Despise Not the Little
For Women by Women

Exodus 23:29-30 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.
This verse clearly shows us that God had a direct purpose in His little-by-little plan for the Israelites to conquer the mighty giants and inhabitants of their promised land. For their own preservation!
God is no different with us. He works in our life in such a way that we too can grow in faith and become spiritually stronger for the next step in our life—a step which is unknown to us but fully known by Him.
Yet, sometimes, we try to rush ahead and leave God behind, only to find out why we should not have. Our world’s ideology of big and great can condition us to despise the “little” things, and therefore we miss the big things of His plan. Do we really want Him to answer, provide, and move in big ways when it is to our demise?
At one time Elijah was in great despair of heart. God did not speak to Elijah in the strong wind, the earthquake, or the fire. But it was in the still small voice that God chose to speak. (1 Kings 19:12)
We can praise God in that even the temptations of life are given to us in little increments. I Corinthians 10:13 says, “…God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able….” Why? Because, if God did not allow them little by little, we would be destroyed.
Reflection—The little-by-little processes in life teach us, grows our faith and trust, and strengthens us for the next step of our life.
