Who Is That God

Daniel 3:15 …if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
In Daniel chapter three, we read of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego. These three men are a wonderful example of standing for the Lord even when your life is at stake. Their boldness resulted in Nebuchadnezzar seeing the Son of God at work.
In verse 15, the King asked the question “who is that God?” After the three men were thrown into the fire, Nebuchadnezzar saw that these men were delivered and made the following statement:
Daniel 3:28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
The king began with the question of “who is that God” then moved to the statement of “blessed be the God.” At the end of the account, he says—Daniel 3:29 …there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
As a result of three men who were willing to stand for what is right, a king went from questioning who God is to recognizing there is no other God.
May we as followers of the Son of the living God be willing to stand for what is right and not bow to the wicked ways of this world.
John 6:68-69 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Reflection—When faced with the fire and the cross, many turn back because they think the way too hard.
