Our Heavenly Father

By Steve Clark

September 17, 2026

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

There is something comforting about knowing we have a Heavenly Father. He is not distant, uncaring, or unaware of what we are going through. He knows us, loves us, and desires for us to walk with Him.

Jesus taught His disciples to call God “Our Father.” That speaks of a relationship. Through Jesus Christ, we can know God, not simply as our Creator, but as our Father.

1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God….

Think about that. The God Who created the heavens and earth allows us to be called His children. A good earthly father wants to provide, protect, teach, correct, and guide his children. How much more does our Heavenly Father care for us?

Matthew 6:8 …your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

God already knows what you need before you ever speak it. He knows your burdens, your fears, your struggles, and the things you carry silently in your heart.

That does not mean life will always be easy. Sometimes our Heavenly Father allows us to walk through difficult valleys because He is teaching us to trust Him. But we never walk those valleys alone.

Hebrews 13:5 …for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

When you feel alone, remember your Father is there. When you are afraid, remember your Father is there. When you don’t know what tomorrow holds, remember your Father already holds tomorrow.

We may not understand everything God is doing, but we can trust the One who does. Our Heavenly Father loves His children, cares for His children, and will never abandon His children.

Today, rest in the truth that you belong to Him.

Reflecton—The answer to your longing is belonging.
