Never Take Your Wife’s Calling for Granted

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
God has given a wife a special calling in a marriage. She is more than someone who lives beside her husband; she is his companion, encourager, helper, and partner in the journey God has given them. Yet, it is easy for a husband to become so accustomed to his wife’s love, faithfulness, and sacrifices that he begins to take them for granted. What once felt like a blessing can slowly become an expectation.
A godly wife often gives in ways that are not noticed. She prays for her husband, encourages him when he is discouraged, and stands beside him through difficult seasons. If her husband serves in ministry, she may carry burdens that others never see. People recognize his work, but they may never understand the sacrifices she makes behind the scenes.
But God sees it all!
First Peter 3:7 reminds husbands to dwell with their wives “according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife.”
A husband should never assume his wife will always have the strength to carry every burden or the encouragement to keep going without appreciation. Your wife’s calling is not an excuse to neglect her; it is a reason to cherish her.
Do not become so focused on what God has called you to do that you forget the woman God has given you to walk beside you. Take time to thank her, listen to her heart, recognize her sacrifices, and remind her that she is loved—not merely for what she does, but for who she is.
Remember, your wife is not just part of your ministry; she is part of your life, your blessing, and your responsibility before God.
Never become so busy serving God that you neglect the woman God has given you. Cherish her, honor her, and thank God for her while you have the opportunity.
Reflection—Share a life, not just a house.
