That Ye May Know
For Women By Women

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I am forever grateful that my parents took me to church as a child, and through hearing the old, old, story, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour at the age of 8. I firmly remember the conviction and wooing of the Holy Spirit that day, and I responded to Him.
However, Satan desires to cause doubt in the lives of God’s children and for many years I was in great fear about my salvation. That is a miserable place to be. There is no peace, no joy, no ability to truly serve God.
I read more Scripture, prayed, and would get it settled – but not for long. Satan has his ways of working on our “feelings” and would point out to me that I failed somehow. I didn’t believe enough, I didn’t say the right words, I didn’t, I didn’t, I didn’t. It was a difficult time, and yet I also learned more about what salvation is and what it is not during that time through the study of His Word.
God began to show me that no one can “do” enough or “do” anything to win His favor or to be righteous enough to go to Heaven. We all come to Him the same way – a sinner. We are helpless and hopeless. All we can do is believe, ask, and receive.
I’m reminded of the father in Mark begging Jesus to help his child. Jesus said,” If thou canst believe, all things are possible.” The father replied, “Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief.“
We cannot come with something in our hand, but just as we are. His Blood covered it all.
Reflection—Just as I am, without one plea…
