We Have an Appointment

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

The oldest living person in the world died. Her name was Misao Okawa, and she lived in Osaka, Japan. She died at the age of 117. With her passing the title now comes back to the United States. Gertrude Weaver of Camden, Arkansas is now believed to be the oldest person in the world at age 116. The title will likely remain in the U.S. for awhile since the second and third oldest people in the world reside in Michigan and New York.

We congratulate these folks on their longevity, but they still have an appointment with death. Every person has an irrefutable appointment with death. Physically we only die once, there is no second chance. Mankind only has one chance to be forgiven, saved and redeemed.

God loves every person no matter their skin color, nationality, education level, or financial standing. He provided salvation for all through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, and He invites all to come to salvation.

But when this life is over, there is no second chance. When we die then comes the judgement. If we have not received Christ as Saviour we shall be judged—separated and cut off from God forever and never allowed to enter God’s presence. We shall be forbidden to enter heaven. That place is the very opposite of heaven—cast into hell itself for all eternity.

Are you ready for that appointment?
