Msg #2636 Being A Psalm 145 Christian
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
“I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever”(Ps.145:1-2). This Psalm succinctly gives five reasons to praise God. I WILL praise because It’s MY CHOICE, my will, every day, at all times, forever and ever. Praise is a decision before it’s a feeling. We praise him for great news, answered prayer, good health. A Ps145Christian praises when there is disappointment, bad news, no answer, pain and hurt. Psalmists give perspective: 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. … 57:7 My heart is fixed … I will sing and give praise. … 71:14 I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. … 104:33 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. … 146:2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
No matter the fluctuations of circumstances, finances, health, emotions, friends, family, on my best day, on my worst day, I am Born-Again-Saved! Psalm 145 gives praise an upward look (vr.3-7) at his greatness, an outward look (vr.8-13) at his kingdom, and an inward look (vr.14-20) at his compassion. I WILL praise because of HIS CREATION. All creation praises him, the earth is the Lord’s. Praise because of HIS CARE, when we fall, hunger, thirst, we can cast all our care on him. Praise because it’s A COMMAND. “My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”
