Msg #2607 Infirmities
What The Bible Says
Good Samaritan’s Penny Pulpit by Pastor Ed Rice
Paul had reckoned that any suffering we do for the cause of Christ is not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us, and then, with a “Likewise” he connects our infirmities to that reckoning (Rom.8:18,26). Paul knew some things about suffering (2Cor.11); Paul knew a few things about infirmities (2Cor.12); but to understand this “Likewise reckoning” for infirmities, let us speak now of the one who has spent a year or a decade living inside the “in sickness or in health” clause of a marriage vow, and then buried a spouse. In 2nd or 3rd person many of us have lived through that situation and know the Maschil of the Psalmist “My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?” I dare not slight the one that crosses such a valley without being hand in hand with a spouse, but to each who ventures with such infirmities Romans 8:26-27 is hallowed and precious. Paul’s reckoning can focus the shekhinah glory cloud aglow in the face of such, … infirmity. It is holy and ennobling to know that the Spirit helpeth, that we do not know, and that intercessions beyond words are being made. It is holy and ennobling to know that God knows, that his Holy Spirit knows, and that our Lord Jesus Christ, our intercessor, he knows, and these, … infirmities are carefully guarded in God’s will. All of that is carefully captured in these two precious sentences of scripture. And when they are captured by one of his saints we can reckon that the infirmities of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us, and say again “revealed in us.” If you are not in this valley first person, it is near at hand, and the Spirit of God in you can intercede through your bended knee. God bless.
