I think that's a cop out. Notice more so that Abram could have said no, and God would have called another.
Baptists who want to justify their twisted compromises as Calvinists say, “We don't believe in John's assertion of the Total depravity of man, just in the 'effectual' total depravity of man; we don't believe in Calvin's Unconditional Election, just the 'effectual' unconditional election." Baptist Mid-Missions doesn't believe in the Presbyterian Church's doctrine of Limited Atonement, just in the "effectual" limited atonement. Mislead Baptist Calvinists don't believe in Irresistible Grace, only the "effectual" irrestibleness of God's grace. The Roman Empire, which attempted the hostile takeover of Christianity, taught John Calvin and his Presbyterian Church to say "Preservation of the Saints;" it was not anything they got from Bible study, where they could have worded "Eternal Security." God preserving his seed line for Christ, is entirely different than his preserving the blood bought, born again, converted to Christ, quickend saints of the New Covenant. John Calvin, with his covenant theology and adopted Roman replacement theology, never "effectively" got the difference.
You want to be careful of the word "effectual," this old Baptist preacher is wise to its secret code in Calvinistic circles.

Thanks for writing. No, the Geneva Bible served a purpose but was to riddled with Calvinism to last very long in Bible believing circles. It is only the King James version that rang true, unbias, and infallible for these 400 years. The Pilgrims, God bless them every one, were not modernists nor ecumenical, as these diabolical attacks against God's truth did not rise to prominence until the turn of the 18th century. I have read much by, and much on, the King James translators, and I am certain there is rejoicing all over heaven that their humble effort for their King has had the impact on the world that is exhibited by the King James Authorized translation of the Bible. I am appalled that you call our celebration of longevity and impact a 'fetish' which is defined as "an object of unreasonably excessive attention or reverence." I am more appalled by those who give The Word of God no attention or reverence. I pray you are not in that camp and that your rebuttal is not an indicator that you are camped out with the ecumenical modernists using an NIV, NASV, NESV et al. But if so you cannot rain discouragement on our 400th year celebration.

Preacher Mike and Heather Gross, Missionaries to Sierra Leone, reminded us of a plea used often in the Bible, “Come and see.” When you are headed out to preach the Gospel in a country which is 78% Muslim you want to be well acquainted with the verse “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Ps39:8) Jesus came to John the Baptist who said “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” After Jesus' Baptism (by immersion) John identified him as the Christ; “Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.” Surely this great truth is one that must be seen for oneself. John the Baptist said it “And I saw and bear record that this is the Son of God.” Then when John the Baptist appointed two of his disciples to follow the Christ he again said, “Behold the Lamb of God,” and when they approached the Christ he said to them “Come and see.” To those who are searching, the longing, those hungering and thirsting after righteousness repeat the refrain; “Behold the Lamb of God, … come and see!” When Nathanael said “Can there any good come out of Nazareth?” it was Philip who said, “Come and see!” When the Samaritan woman knew that Jesus was the Messiah she said to all, “Come and see!” Nowhere in the Bible is a soul won by lifestyle evangelism, it is done when a genuine believer and witness says with their mouth, “Behold the Lamb of God … Come and see.” Got a mouth? Be a witness. They need the invitation.

Msg#1637 Day 9-11 and Peace of Jerusalem, What The Bible Says, puts prayer tip#4 very succinctly:
And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD” (1Sam 7:5). In June 2014 the 221st General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA considered banning the word “Israel” from its prayers. Instead they settled on promoting an antisemitic divide between the ancient land and the modern state. Their despise of God's chosen people, Israel, stems from their deep seated Covenant Theology. Covenant Theology, which originated in the Roman Church and resonates in every Protestant denomination, contends that God replaced the Jewish people with the church. They contend that NOW Christians, not Jews, not Hebrews, not the twelve tribes of Israel, are the chosen and elect people. They suppose that Jews rejected Messiah, and thus God rejected Jews. Bible believers need to take particular note that John Calvin's misrepresentation of election is more diabolical than ripping the “whosoevers” out of the Bible, it is intent on ripping God's chosen and elect people, Israel, out of the world. The propensity of our leaders to turn their backs on Israel, to call them occupiers, to side with antisemitic movements, and to support a Palestinian state, comes from 240 years of church pulpits sounding out their diabolical Replacement Theology. The Protestant churches still use the Roman's allegorical methods to deny the millennial reign of Christ, deny a seven year tribulation, deny Jerusalem as God's holy city and Zion as the place we are marching to, deny the pre-tribulational rapture, and to call the Revelation of Jesus Christ “Allegorical Literature.” Bible believers need to know God's dispensational teachings and sway their friends and relatives from the apostate Protestant Denominations, and then “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee…. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem” (Psalm 122).
