Bethani Thomas, as a 13-year-old, was at the mercy of two thugs in Guatemala City who hijacked a car with her inside. The short-lived incident, however, left a lasting impression on Thomas. Now, six years later as a college student, family and friends say Bethani has a remarkable capacity to see people’s needs and then intervene to help.
