Rev. Eugene Allen Power, Sr. age 86, of Toccoa, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Canton Nursing Center in Canton, GA, following several months of declining health.

Born December 2, 1924 in Stephens County, GA, he was a son of the late Dr. Ivory Doyle Power and Vesta Scott Power.

Family members include his wife, Mary Herring Power of Canton, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Susan Power of Marietta; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and John Mayfield of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Annie Power and Matt Power of Marietta, GA, Ron and Sally Marshbanks and Gena Brewer of Greenville, SC; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at one o’clock Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Whitlock Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Andy Childs and the Rev. Jerry Stowe officiating.

Burial will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 11 am until the funeral hour on Tuesday.

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army World War II Veteran serving in Italy and North Africa.
